Hope Larsen

LOGAN, UTAH: Ethel Hope Jensen Larsen, our sweet, beautiful mom, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 23, 2011.

She was born on November 26, 1923 to Ray E. and Thelma Jensen. She was the fourth child seven children. She was raised in Young Ward and graduated from South Cache High School. On November 27, 1943 she married her sweetheart, James C. Larsen. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They were the parents of four children, Gerelyn, Linda, Larry and John. They always joked they had two girls, two boys and twins because Larry and Linda were twins. Hope and Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, skiing, hunting, dancing and golfing together along with raising kids. Mom was a very hard worker and never wanted to be the center of attention. She just wanted to love her four children, 13 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren and have them love her. They lived most of their lives in Logan and Smithfield. Hope worked for Mode O’ Day factory for many years before retiring, but she never stopped working. She was always planting a garden of roses and iris’s that everyone admired. She also spent lots of time sewing ruffly dresses, and dance costumes and making quilts for everyone. Hope was known for being a beautiful seamstress. When she wasn’t needed to sew ruffly dresses anymore, she turned to cooking. Her rolls, oatmeal cookies and hand dipped chocolates were known and loved by everyone. They were the best! Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings throughout her life but her favorite was young women’s president.

She is survived by her children, Gerilyn Watson, West Valley; Linda and Dave Evans, Hyde Park; Larry Larsen, Brigham City; John and Marianna Larsen, North Logan, 13 grandchildren and their spouses, 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two brothers, one great grandson and a son-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Logan 43rd Ward chapel, 600 East 1255 North. There will be a viewing Saturday from 10:00 - 11:30 am at the church. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences may be shared online at www.allenmortuaries.net
