Jeanine Hammond Atwood Fenton, our beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, and sister passed away after a short battle with lymphoma on August 31, 2026, in North Logan, Utah. She recently celebrated her 70th birthday with her family.

Jeanine was born on May 2, 1956 in Logan, Utah; the fourth child of Arthur Ralph and Connie Egbert Hammond. Jeanine grew up on her family farm in Providence, Utah. She loved spending time playing with her siblings and friends, and horseback riding with her dad. She also loved the animals, including the family dog, Nibs and their pet goose, Doozy.

She attended Providence Elementary, South Cache Middle School, and graduated from Sky View High School in 1974. She then completed nursing school at Weber State and Utah State Universities and began a fulfilling nursing career. Later in life, she finished her bachelor’s degree from Western Governor’s University, which had been a lifelong dream. She worked in various nursing positions including surgical, intensive care, transitional care, and home health.

Jeanine met and fell in love with David George Atwood and they were married for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple on September 16, 1982. They were blessed with two daughters together, Angie and Jenny. Dave and Jeanine were married for eight and half years and she lovingly cared for him before he passed away from a brain tumor.

Jeanine was a devoted mother and loved her daughters with all her heart. As a single mom for 25 years, she dedicated her life to raising her daughters in Providence, Utah, with much love and support from extended family.

Jeanine was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony of her Savior. She served in various of callings and especially loved working with the Young Women and as the Primary Pianist. She also loved attending and serving in the temple.

Some of Jeanine’s hobbies included sewing, crocheting baby blankets, playing the piano and organ, reading, and playing cards and board games. She also loved to travel and spend time with family and gave her daughters many great memories of their fun adventures together.

In September, 2016, Jeanine was blessed to fall in love for a second time. She married Todd Fenton in Logan, Utah on November 4, 2017. They enjoyed eight and a half wonderful years together. They were very devoted to each other and he affectionately attended to her throughout her illness. Todd’s family loved and cherished Jeanine deeply and will always be grateful for the love, kindness, and care she so generously gave to their family.

Jeanine is survived by her husband, Todd Burbidge Fenton; daughters, Angie Atwood and Jenny (Marcus) Prentice; stepsons, Jason (Ginger), Scott (Debra), Trevor (Mandy), and Joshua (Britnee) Fenton; stepdaughter, Trisha (Eric) Duersch; grandchildren, Paislee, Kaitlyn, Emma, Annie, and Briggs; 18 step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; siblings, Coreen (Brent) Speth, Lynn (Debbie) Hammond, Rex Hammond, and Todd Hammond; brother-in-law Steve (Corinne) Atwood; sister-in-law Cheryl (Michael) Atwood; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Art and Connie Hammond, her beloved husband, Dave, her father and mother-in-law George and Joyce Atwood, as well as brothers-in-law Michael and Gary Atwood.

A viewing will be held at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, Logan, Utah, on Friday, September 11, from 5:00-7:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the North Park 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2540 North 400 East, North Logan, Utah, on Saturday, September, 12, at 11:00 am. A viewing will precede the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
