Jenness Pitcher Pond

February 16, 1944 — April 28, 2024

North Logan, Utah

Jenness Pitcher Pond, age 80, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 28, 2024, in her dearly loved Cache Valley. Born in February 1944 to Mary Geraldine and Ronald Nelson Pitcher, Jenness was a woman of vibrant spirit and boundless energy who made a lasting impact on all who knew her.

A proud graduate of North Cache High School, Jenness furthered her academic journey at Utah State University. While at Utah State University she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority where she enjoyed campus life and made friendships lasting her entire life.  Shortly after receiving her bachelor’s degree in Speech, she married Randall Pond on June 5, 1967. She also earned a master of education degree in secondary education from Utah State University. Her passion for teaching led her to both North and South Cache then she finished her career at Mountain Crest High School.

Jenness was a talented pianist whose passion for music enriched the lives of her piano students in the community. As a high school drama instructor, she truly found her calling. She ignited an enduring passion for the performing arts, fostering an environment where creativity and confidence could thrive. Her love of drama and her ability to inspire and motivate her students were the defining features of her remarkable teaching career.

After retiring in June 2003, she embraced the warmth of Arizona. She would spend her winters in Yuma and Mesa before eventually settling full-time in the lively community of Las Palmas Grand. Known for her sociable and lively nature, Jenness was a regular at theater shows, dances, her temple and lunch bunch, and concerts with friends. She loved attending card games on Saturday, was a devoted member of the Red Hats and a local community choir, sharing her joy and zest for life with all around her.

A shopping enthusiast, Jenness enjoyed finding treasures that she often gifted to her community of friends and family. Her keen eye and sense of fashion for a well curated wardrobe which she accessorized to the nines, was only matched by her bright coordinating disposition.

Most of all, Jenness adored her family. She is survived by her son Jason R. Pond (Melanie), daughter Jennifer Pond; and her four grandchildren, Berkley (Derek), Cooper, Keaton, Haisley; and her sister Faye Pitcher Schiess (Don). Jenness is preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law Geraldine Pitcher Jonas (Ellis).

A viewing and celebration of Jenness's life will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, located at 34 E. Center Street Logan, UT, 84321 on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 6- 8 PM. Friends and family are invited to share memories and pay tribute to her extraordinary life. A private graveside service will be held on Monday, May 6th at the Smithfield City Cemetery.
