Joan W. Roskelley

March 6, 1933 — October 20, 2025

Logan

Elma Joan Wilson Roskelley returned to her heavenly home on October 20, 2025 at the age of 92. She was born March 6, 1933 to LeRoy Valentine Wilson and Elma Duella Budge Wilson in Logan, Utah. She grew up in Logan and attended the local schools, including Logan High School where she met the love of her life, Sidney Clair Roskelley, and the adventures began. After graduating from Utah State University, they were married in the Logan, Utah temple. Soon after, they moved to Chicago where Sid began dental school. Joan worked to provide for them for the next four years. They built many lifelong friendships with others who were attending school there. Their first child, Cindy, was born to them shortly before moving back to Logan. Over the next few years they were blessed with two other children, Linda and Rick. They loved to travel and spend time together as a family.

Joan will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and gracious demeanor. She welcomed all she met with a cute grin and witty greeting. Everyone loved Joan. She was a wonderful listener. She made everyone feel that what they said was important. She was wise, patient and gave valuable advice when asked. Sid always said she was a trusted counselor whom he turned to for solutions to any problem. Joan was a loving mother, an excellent homemaker, and a wonderful seamstress. She loved to try new recipes and dress in the latest fashions. She enjoyed gardening and grew beautiful flowers every summer.

Joan was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in the church. She had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. Her unwavering faith and devotion was an example to all. She and Sid served in the St. George Mission for 18 months and loved the connections they made there.

Family was a huge part of Joan’s life. She spent countless hours cooking for and entertaining her children and grandchildren. Family trips to Nauvoo, Lake Powell, California, and other places hold fond memories for her posterity.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and son-in-law, Kevin Geddes Kerr as well as two infant siblings who passed away shortly after birth. She is survived by her sister, Virginia Gainer, her children, Cindy Nielsen (Lynn), Linda Kerr, and Rick Roskelley (Linda), along with 15 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, but the fond memories live on and we are happy to have her reunited with her loving husband.

A short, private graveside will be held to celebrate her amazing life of service. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
