Joseph Marvin Black was born February 25, 1936 in Graham, Alamance County, NC. He left this life, to be with his Savior and loved ones beyond the veil, on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Logan Regional Hospital. Marvin was a devoted and beloved member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his quiet and unassuming manner, he exemplified the testimony burning in his heart of his love for his Savior, the gospel and his family. He served in many capacities including Bishoprics, High Counsel, High Priest Group Leader, teacher, Home Teaching companion and temple worker. His internment will be at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham, NC on Tuesday, February 11th, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Merriann, of Logan, a son, Brandon Clayton (Sarah Jane) of Providence, a daughter, Wendy Purvis, Rural Hall, NC, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, February 7th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, Center Street in Logan.
