Joseph Peter Sandberg, 57, passed away peacefully from this life surrounded by his loving family in Lewiston, Utah on July 15, 2025 after a brief and difficult battle with cancer.

Joe was welcomed into this world on December 17, 1967 by Rex and Grace Sandberg as the ninth of ten surviving children in Logan, Utah. Like his family, Joe was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Given all of his brothers and sisters, he learned to be independent from a young age. He loved his family, friends and the outdoors. He was known for his kind, gentle, and easy-going nature with others. After graduating from Bryce Valley High in 1986, Joe returned briefly to Cache Valley before enlisting in the US Navy in the Naval Construction Battalion and served from 1988 to 1991. While serving his 3 years, he traveled the world while stationed in California, Guam, and Italy.

Upon completion of his military service, he met and married Jessica Peterson in Orangeville, Utah. They started their life together in Panguitch and then Henrieville, Utah. Joe worked at Bryce Canyon, and then for a brother-in-law doing plumbing. Soon, they were blessed with three children, Cameron, Jordan, and McKenzie, who immediately became the love and focus of his life. They moved back to Lewiston in Cache Valley where Joe worked at Presto (now Reynolds) for nearly 30 years.

After a divorce, Joe met and married Nancy Weston and lived in Nibley until they also divorced. Eventually, he moved back to Lewiston to be closer to his job. Though he was looking forward to retirement and spending time with family, he was diagnosed with cancer in March. He took comfort that McKenzie and Kate were able to care for him and his needs throughout his treatments.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Grace Sandberg, a brother Dean, sister-in-law Sandy Hall Sandberg (Donald), and brother-in-law Edward Chlarson (Patricia). He is survived by his children Cameron (Callie), Jordan, and McKenzie (partner Kate Coleman); siblings Donald (Cynthia), Ronald, Robert (Fatima), Julia (Aaron Bybee), David (Holly), Jean (Brad Holyoak), Patricia (Randy Powell), Catherine (Larry Webb), and Melinda (Jared Barton); 3 grandchildren Ceagan, Camden, and Cooper; and many cousins, nieces and nephews!

A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Allen-Hall Mortuary, at 34 East Center St, in Logan, Utah. The Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM at the same location. Streaming video of the funeral will be available through the mortuary.

A luncheon for family and friends will be held after the funeral at Lewiston LDS Church, 16 South Main, Lewiston, Utah at 2:00 PM.

Interment will be 1:00 PM Saturday, July 26, at the Spry City Cemetery in Panguitch, Utah (7 miles north of Panguitch on Hwy 89, then West and South for 0.8 miles on Sandy Creek Loop Road). A meal for the family will take place immediately following burial.
