Joseph George Uzelac Jr.

August 20, 1949 — December 3, 2022

Beloved father, brother and cousin, Joseph George Uzelac Jr., passed away at the age of 73 on December 3, 2022, in Hyde Park, Utah. Joseph was born August 20, 1949, in Denver, Colorado to Joseph George Uzelac Sr. and Maurine Davis Uzelac.

Joe is survived by three Children, Trisha Norcross, Utah, Sonny Uzelac, Arizona and Georgia (Jake) Vallejos, Utah and three siblings; brother Tom, California, sisters Kathy (Terry) Morrill, California and Janet (Mike) Degn, Colorado. He was blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In high school Joey was passionate about basketball and played guard for the Judge Memorial High School team. And even with other team members well over 6 feet tall, at 5’ 10” Joey could out jump every member earning him the moniker “Jumpin Joe Uzelac” from the local press.

After graduating from Judge Memorial High School in 1968, Joe joined the Army Reserves where he spent six months in boot camp before returning to Salt Lake to work with his dad at Minerals Equipment Company. He continued to work in the company, heading up the Phoenix division, over the next 50 years and eventually assumed ownership with the passing of his father.

Proceeded in Death by his father, Joe and Mother Maurine and baby sister Mary who died at birth.

Joe had a love for all sports, but his favorites were Basketball and Cycling. He was affectionately called Little Joe or Joey by his family and friends.

From 2016 Joe lived in and around Logan, Utah surrounded by his cousins and relatives.

The family would like to thank Mike Wolford and all the Logan cousins for loving and watching over Joe in his last years of life.

A private funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes in Magna. Burial Murray City Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life in Joe’s honor will take place in the spring of 2023 date to be determined.
