Joy Tenny

November 17, 1948 — February 8, 2024

Logan, Utah

Joy Ellen Reep Tenny graduated from this life peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the age of 75 after a 7 month long battle with gallbladder cancer. Joy was born November 17, 1948, to Walter Reep and Emil Frazier Reep in Columbus, Ohio. When she was 9 years old, her family moved to Phoenix, AZ,where missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knocked on their door and taught them the gospel. Joy and her mom were baptized  on September 26, 1959. Joining the church set her on a path that has defined her life.

Joy was the first in her family to attend college. She chose Brigham Young University, then transferred to the University of Oregon Dental School and received a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene in 1971. She married Kenneth Wayne Tenny in the Oakland Temple the same week she graduated. Ken and Joy lived their first year in Beaverton, OR, then 5.5 years in Seattle, WA, 13.5 years in Bellingham and Deming, WA, and 24 years in Nine Mile Falls, WA. In 2015, they moved to Logan, UT, where she spent the remainder of her days.

Joy worked all through college and as a dental hygienist for the first 20 years of raising her children. With her abundant energy and enthusiasm for life, she was happiest when she was busy: teaching seminary, selling Brite music, directing her own version of the Safety Kids or Forgotten Carols, attending her children’s sports events and concerts, going to Girl’s Camp, growing a garden, and singing in the ward choir. Whether she was the leader or the follower in an organization, Joy went the extra mile in her service to others. As talented, successful, and creative as she was, she considered her greatest accomplishment to be raising her 7 children.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, her parents, and all of her siblings. What a joyful reunion she is experiencing!

Joy is survived by her 7 children, their spouses, and her 24 grandchildren.

Memorial service for Joy will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM, Bridgerland Park 1st Ward: 825 North 200 West, Logan, Utah 84321.
