Joyce Ann Alston Crockett, 89, died Thursday, July 30, 2026, at her Maple Springs residence in North Logan, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was born May 30, 1937, in American Falls, Idaho, to Alvin Lee Alston and Rebecca Ann Stephenson. Joyce met and fell in love with Reed George Crockett in Pocatello, Idaho, where they were married March 30, 1955.

Joyce and Reed moved to San Diego when Reed joined the Navy. Their first child, Shelly Lynn, was born there. Later they were transferred to Hawaii where their second child, Frandee Lee, was born. While there they were sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple. After being discharged from the Navy, they returned to Pocatello where their third child, Alan Reed, was born. After Reed graduated from Utah State University, they moved to Livermore, California, where their fourth child, Craig Jay was born.

Joyce and Reed moved to River Heights in 1967, where Joyce has resided for 59 years. Joyce has served and loved everyone around her in a wide variety of callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joyce loved serving with Reed as full-time missionaries in the Family and Church History Mission in Salt Lake City, Utah. They served doing ordinance data management in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.

Growing up in difficult circumstances as a child has given Joyce compassion and love for others regardless of situations or difficulties. She has always been a good listener and loves to serve others. Her home has always been a haven of love and compassion for others. Joyce has opened her home for others to reside throughout the years. Family members, ward members, and others in need of a safe place found a home with Joyce and Reed. Joyce cared for her parents and Reed’s parents for over 30 years. Joyce has been a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and just now a great-great-grandmother. Joyce has been an angel caregiver to all of us and so many more throughout her life.

Joyce has created many fond memories and strengthened relationships traveling with Reed, her children, grandchildren, and friends throughout the years. Joyce enjoyed gardening and working in the yard with Reed, where they grew a showcase yard. Many happy family gatherings and memories took place in the beautiful surroundings they created together. Joyce is an accomplished artist and has painted many beautiful paintings that we will always cherish. Her four children and their spouses, 16 grandchildren and their spouses, 56 great-grandchildren and their spouses (one great-grandchild on the way), and one great-great-grandchild all love and adore Joyce and will miss her dearly. We will try to remember her Christ-like life and follow her example.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Reed George Crockett, her parents Alvin Lee Alston and Rebecca Ann Stephenson Alston, and Reed’s parents Frank Lee Crockett and Alta Eliza Webb Crockett. Joyce’s children are Shelly Lynn Holt (Alan Dean), Frandee Lee Felton (David), Alan Reed Crockett (Suzie Haddock), and Craig Jay Crockett (Linda Clawson). Joyce has 16 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

We would like to thank all the compassionate, loving service given to our dear mother at Maple Springs. She felt special and loved by those around her there.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the River Heights Utah Stake Center at 800 South 600 East in River Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held before the service from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery.
