Katrina Maria Olsen

Katrina (Tina) Maria Thomsen Olsen was born on November 29, 1943 in Newcastle upon Tyne to Arnold Bredahl Thomsen and Ann Isobel MacCann Thomsen.

At age two, after the war, their small family moved to Denmark where Arnold’s family was. Tina grew up in Denmark. At age 15 she wanted to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her Grandmother was so excited for her Lutheran Confirmation. Tina’s dad only agreed to allow her to be baptized after her confirmation.

At 18 she went to be a nanny for one of the men who baptized her. She traveled to West Berlin on the day they put up the wall.

After, she moved to Idaho and then served a mission to Norway. On her way home, she was allowed visit her parents. While there, she met a missionary who was close to her parents. Ray Deloy Olsen fell in love with her at first sight. They agreed to go on a date when he returned home.

They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on October 10th, 1968. They bought their home in Hyrum and had three children. Annetta(Gary) Bunce, John(Annie) Olsen, and Kurt Olsen.

Kurt was born with Williams Syndrome and Tina spent many years and a lot of time fighting for Kurt’s education and help. Laws and programs were not in place for special needs kids at the time.

Tina and DeLoy served a mission to Denmark and loved every minute of it.

She has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ray DeLoy Olsen

A viewing is being held Wednesday, March 4th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Allen Hall mortuary and Thursday from 9:00am-10:30 am at the Hyrum Central Stake center, followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Hyrum Cemetery.
