Kenneth Gene Hansen, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Smithfield, Utah, on August 4, 2025. Born May 14, 1936, in Logan, Utah, he was the fourth child of Harold G. and Evelyn Peterson Hansen.
He was raised in a farming family. He attended Summit Elementary and later graduated from North Cache High School. In the spring of 1957, he was called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the New England States Mission.
After serving his mission, Kenneth married his eternal companion, Twilla Kae Jessop, in the Logan LDS Temple. Together, they worked to establish a home and dairy farm in Amalga, where they reared their family.
Shortly after marriage, Kenneth fulfilled his duty to his country in the Utah Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant in the 145th Artillery Unit.
A devout and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kenneth dedicated much of his time to his church callings. He served as Bishop of the Amalga Ward and as a High Counselor in the Smithfield Stake.
Declining health led Kenneth to take early retirement and sell the farm and moved from Amalga to a new home in Smithfield.
Kenneth leaves behind his loving wife, Twilla, and their six children: Barry (Sharalyn), Cory (Suzanne), Kathy Coulam (Jon), Doyle (Lyndal), Tim (Amber), and Brian (Nichole). His legacy includes 24 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two of Kenneth's sisters, MarJean Petersen and Kaye Robertson.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn; brothers, Lennis and DeMar; and sisters, Jackie Hillyard and Rhonda Gleed.
A viewing will be held on the evening of Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St, Logan, and on Monday, August 11, 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Stake Center.
