Ki Soo Kim

Ki Soo Kim passed away at his Kansas home on November 2, 2026, at age 91.

Born in Osaka, Japan, and raised in Korea, Ki Soo proudly served in the Korean War, volunteering despite being exempt as the family's only and eldest son. In the mid-1970s, he and his family immigrated to the United States and settled in Hyrum, Utah. After retiring from Weslo, he and his wife moved to Salt Lake City. Following the death of his wife of 63 years, he moved to Kansas to be closer to family.

He cherished his grandchildren and great-granddaughters, and photos of them filled his home. Ki Soo loved soccer and would watch any available game, in any language. He is preceded in death by his wife, his two sons, and his mother in the United States.

He is survived by his daughters, AeKyong Kim Friedrich of North Carolina and Mickey Kim (Jacob Sloan) of Kansas; his grandchildren, Peter Tran (Ashley) of Arizona, Tyler Friedrich of California, and Davis Sloan of Kansas; and his two great-granddaughters, Chrislyn and Natalie Tran.

Services will take place in Kansas and he will be laid to rest beside his family in the Logan City Cemetery.

고인은 일본 오사카에서 태어나 한국에서 성장하셨습니다. 한국전쟁 당시 집안의 장남이자 외아들로서 병역 면제 대상이었음에도 불구하고, 자원입대하여 나라를 위해 자랑스럽게 복무하셨습니다.

1970년대 중반, 고인은 가족과 함께 미국으로 이민하여 유타주 하이럼(Hyrum)에 정착하셨습니다. 웨슬로(Weslo)에서 은퇴하신 후에는 아내와 함께 솔트레이크시티로 이주하셨습니다. 63년간 평생을 함께하신 아내와 사별하신 뒤에는 가족들과 더 가까이 지내기 위해 캔자스주로 거처를 옮기셨습니다.

고인은 손주들과 증손녀들을 무척 사랑하셨으며, 집 안 곳곳에는 그들의 사진이 가득했습니다. 또한 축구를 매우 좋아하셔서 중계 언어에 상관없이 볼 수 있는 축구 경기라면 무엇이든 즐겨 시청하셨습니다.

고인보다 먼저 세상을 떠나신 가족으로는 사랑하는 아내와 두 아들, 그리고 미국에서 생을 마감하신 어머니가 계십니다.

유가족으로는 노스캐롤라이나주에 거주하는 딸 김애경 프리드리히(AeKyong Kim Friedrich), 캔자스주에 거주하는 딸 미키 김(Mickey Kim)과 그의 배우자 제이콥 슬론(Jacob Sloan)이 있습니다. 또한 애리조나주에 거주하는 손자 피터 트란(Peter Tran)과 그의 배우자 애슐리(Ashley), 캘리포니아주에 거주하는 손자 타일러 프리드리히(Tyler Friedrich), 캔자스주에 거주하는 손자 데이비스 슬론(Davis Sloan), 그리고 두 증손녀 크리슬린(Chrislyn)과 나탈리 트란(Natalie Tran)이 있습니다.

장례식은 캔자스주에서 거행될 예정이며, 고인은 유타주 로건 시립묘지(Logan City Cemetery)에 안장되어 먼저 세상을 떠난 가족들 곁에서 영면에 드실 예정입니다.
