LaDaun Christiansen Olson

August 16, 1936 — June 19, 2025

Logan

LaDaun C. Olson passed away on June 19th, 2025 at the age of 88. LaDaun was born to Carl and Elda Christiansen of Hyrum on Aug. 16, 1936. She was the eldest of four children: Lennis (Linda), Carolynn, and Kent (Kathy). She grew up in Hyrum, spending summers picking green beans and sunbathing with her friends on the beach at Hyrum Dam.

LaDaun went to school in Hyrum, graduating from South Cache High in 1955. After graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City with two close friends and worked at First Security Bank for two years while waiting for Larry Olson of Logan to return from his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Larry and LaDaun were married July 18, 1958 in the Logan Temple. They had three children: Sandra (David) Nielsen, North Logan; Diana (Michael) Clark, Rigby, Idaho; and Mike (Tami) Olson of Suwanee, Georgia. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Christian Nielsen, Candace Clark, Jonathan (Lexie) Clark, Brigham (Madi) Clark, Megan Clark, Joshua (Jasmine) Olson, Hannah (Nathan) Howard and Sarah (Kayden) Barlow. One great-grandchild, Haydin, with another on the way.

While raising her family, LaDaun also worked at Mountain Fuel doing food demonstrations. Larry and LaDaun enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, going on adventures. They also liked to ride their motorcycle with the Goldwing Motorcycle Club.

Larry passed away from cancer in 1999. LaDaun enjoyed her many activities as a member of seven clubs: Ex Libris, Red Hats, Singles, Saturday Ward Ladies, Best Friends Club, H2U, and her beloved Tuesday card club. She enjoyed shopping and traveling with her many friends.

LaDaun was an excellent cook and loved trying out new recipes. She loved to organize get-togethers and entertain her family and friends on her patio.

A devoted member of her church, she served in many callings, including Primary teacher, visiting teacher, visiting teaching coordinator, and a longtime member of the Homemaking Committee, where she especially enjoyed crafting.

Thank you to her caregivers: Dr. Stones, Dr. Manning, Dr. Hamblin, Jennifer Hollingsworth, the Legacy Staff, and Rob Phelps from Sunshine Hospice. Thank you for your compassionate care for our mother.

LaDaun, affectionately known as "Grandma Sweetie", was a friend to all and will be dearly missed.

A viewing will be held on June 25, 2025 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Logan 19th Ward building, located at 1255 N 600 E in Logan, Utah. The funeral will follow the viewing at 11:00 am, with interment at the Logan City Cemetery.
