Larry James Jacobsen, Sr., age 87, of Nibley, Utah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025, after a valiant battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Larry was born in Montpelier, Idaho, and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1957. He went on to attend Utah State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Ever committed to learning and leadership, he later earned a master’s degree in Elementary Administration from New York University in New York.

Larry devoted more than 35 years of his life to education in the Logan City School District, serving as both an elementary school teacher and principal. He was a well-recognized and deeply remembered educator who influenced generations of students, families, and fellow educators through his steady leadership, kindness, and dedication.

In addition to his career in education, Larry had a lifelong passion for sports. He founded and operated Cache Valley Officials, providing referees, umpires, and other officials for local softball, basketball, and volleyball teams. For over 60 years, Larry himself was a familiar and trusted presence on courts and fields throughout the valley, serving as an umpire, referee, and scorekeeper.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, two grandchildren, and his first wife, DeeAnn. Together, Larry and DeeAnn raised four children: Jyl Jacobsen, Larry James Jacobsen, Jr., Richard Ted Jacobsen, and Kelly Dee Jacobsen.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann, whom he married in 1998 and shared 27 wonderful years with until his passing. He was also a devoted stepfather to Mary (Tyler) Bown and Jen (Scott) Gorder. Larry was a fun-loving and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather, adored by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Larry lived a life of service and quiet devotion. He especially loved the outdoors, participating in various sporting events, woodworking, and collecting a wide range of interesting items. He could often be found tending his garden or spending time with his beloved menagerie of animals.

A Celebration of Life/Open House will be held in Larry’s honor on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan, Utah. Online condolences may be shared through Allen-Hall Mortuary.
