Linda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She returned home to her Heavenly Father on March 9th, 2026, at the age of 82, after being surrounded by loved ones in the days before her passing.
Linda was born on August 7th, 1943, in Preston, Idaho, to Earnest Galloway and Stella King. Her Grandma and Grandpa King as well as her Stepmother, Evelyn, nurtured her as well. She grew up in homes filled with faith and hard work. These were lessons she carried with her throughout her life.
She served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwestern United States. She earned a BS of Communication Disorders from Utah State University. While at USU she performed on the folk dance team.
She married Louis Kirby on March 14th, 1972, in the Salt Lake City Temple, and together they built a home first in Hyde Park, Utah, then spent the remainder of their lives in Richmond, Utah.
Linda’s greatest happiness came from her family. She was a mother to Trina, Raymond, Starla, LuJean, Brett, and Emily. Throughout their growing-up years, she and Louis would attend games, concerts, theatrical performances, and any event where her family was gathered. Even when their health made this difficult, they found a way to support.
She is the grandmother to Caleb, Steven, Isaac, and Garrett Thomson; Meghan, Emma, Sean, and Jack Kirby; Tanner, Levi, and Conner Winward; Helen, Hayden, Grant, and Jacoba Holst; Vincent and Violet Baker; Ryal Poll; and Jacoby Bisbing.
Linda is also the great‑grandmother to Arabella, Hazel, and Melody.
Faith and service were central to Linda’s life. She served faithfully in her church and community, offering quiet acts of kindness to anyone in need. She had a gentle strength, a ready smile, and a steady testimony of Jesus Christ that sustained her and those around her.
Linda also had many talents and interests. She gardened, listened to instrumental music, read her scriptures, wrote poetry, and did family history. Memories of her service will continue to warm the hearts and homes of those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Trina Thomson(Jay), Ray Kirby (Heather), Starla Winward, Brett Kirby, Lujean Holst (Brandon), Emily Baker (Mike Poll), 19 grandchildren, and 3 great‑grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Anna Carol Galloway and Bonnie Galloway Jessee, as well as her stepbrothers and sisters: Sheron Phillips(Roger), Gloria Wilson Wilderburg(Gary), Lyle Wilson (Maria), Richard Wilson (Sandra); half brothers: Neil Galloway (Elaine), and Glen Galloway (Teresa) and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse: Louis Kirby and brothers: David Galloway and Grant Wilson.
A viewing will be held on March 21st from 9 to 10:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 150 S 100 E, Richmond, Utah. Funeral services will follow on the same day at the same location, starting at 11 am. Interment will be at Logan, Utah Cemetery. She will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Linda’s family wishes to thank Meals on Wheels, the hospital staff at McKay-Dee Hospital, hospice, ward members, and friends for their loving service and support. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Linda by: performing an act of kindness, donating to a favorite charity, or spending time with loved ones.
Though our hearts ache with her passing, we rejoice in the knowledge that families can be together forever and that we will see her again. Until then, we will carry her love, her faith, and her example in our hearts.
