On a sunny fall day, October 29, 2025, Lunella Hemmert Barker of Logan, Utah, decided to go sailing. Lunella stayed until grand kids, great and great great kids left her house, then she slipped out too. LaVere was waiting, they had to get to the boat. Lunella was 98 years old.
Lunella was born June 26, 1927 at the Camp Lifton Idaho Power plant on the north end of Bear Lake. Five houses were built for the workers who were constructing the new Power plant. Joseph W. Hemmert (deceased) and his wife Melba Nye Hemmert (deceased) lived in the third house. Their five children, Birdena, Lunella, Monta, Artheta and James were born there.
Lunella is survived by her children; Vernon (Karen), Norman (Cheri), Garth (Jackie), Dreena (Don), Max (Ilene) Barker. Twenty-one grandchildren and many more great and great-great grandchildren, one sister, Monta Benson and one brother James Hemmert.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melba and Joseph William Hemmert, and two sisters, Birdena Clampitt and Artheta Anderson and one grand-daughter Michelle Naylor.
Viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary (34 E Center in Logan) on November 13, 2025 at 10:00-11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held at Logan Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
