IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria Elma
Salinas
January 10, 1940 – February 26, 2026
Memorial Service
Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses
3:30 - 4:30 pm (Mountain time)
Maria Elma Garza de Salinas passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work that touched every one who knew her. She was born on January 10, 1940 to Juan Rafael Garza and Gonzala Benavides in Tamaulipas, Mexico. She is survived by Alejandro R. Salinas, husband, Sonny Salinas, son, and his wife Peyton, Marianela Salinas, daughter, Marisol Salinas Wagstaff, daughter, Jessica Florez and husband Adrian, granddaughter, and Cristina Salinas, granddaughter.
She deeply loved her family and expressed that love through caring acts, especially cooking wonderful Mexican meals- her tamales were a favorite. She also had a special appreciation for flowers, particularly those with bright, cheerful colors.
From a young age, Maria Elma cherished reading the Bible. Her faith became the center of her life, and she devoted nearly 60 years to serving Jehovah as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She found great joy in reaching and teaching Bible truths, faithfully attending Christian meetings until the time of her death.
Maria Elma worked for 18 years at Gossner Cheese Factory alongside her beloved husband of 64 years. As a child, she and her family traveled across the country as migrant workers alongside her future husband’s family. Their shared experiences brought them together, and they were married on January 7, 1962. They continued working together until settling in Logan, Utah when their children began school, eventually settling in Logan, a place they grew to love.
She was well-loved by others because of the kindness and respect she showed to everyone she met. Known for her strong worth ethic, she was energetic, hardworking, and always willing to lend a hand.
Maria Elma will be deeply missed as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family finds comfort in the hope of seeing her again in perfect health soon.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 3:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2813 S Main St., Nibley, UT 84321.
