Marilyn M. Gese (Brandt) passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 91. Born to Warren and Marjorie Brandt, on February 28, 1934, in Spokane, Washington, where she attended Lewis and Clark High School, and was a TiGirl. Following graduation, she worked as a bank teller and met John Gese at Williams Lake at the age of 16 and her mother worried about “the older man”! During their 60 wonderful years of marriage which started in 1953 in Spokane, they made moved several times for John’s work including Belmont, California; Tustin, California; Munster, Indiana; Brownwood, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; and San Antonio, Texas. During those years, Marilyn worked as a medical receptionist in doctor offices in Brownwood, Phoenix, and San Antonio. Following John’s retirement in 1985, they moved back to Spokane Valley and built a beautiful home on 26 pine-covered acres near Chattaroy, Washington. They loved entertaining friends and family on their property with daily walks on the hiking trails they had constructed on their land.

Her passions included square dancing, alpine skiing, fishing, gardening, huckleberry picking, travel, and creating artwork (stained glass and ceramics). John and Marilyn were active square dancers throughout their time together. Their fishing exploits are legendary with Marilyn always catching the biggest fish! John passed in 2014 and she moved to Logan, Utah, in 2020, to be near family. Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Vance (Peg) and Eric (Pat). She preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John. The family wishes to thank the wonderful care provided by Maple Springs Memory Care Unit for the years she was a resident, and the nurses and doctors at the ER, ICU, and TCU/Hospice units at Logan Regional Care during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Trout Unlimited or the Spokane Humane Society. Funeral arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary. Memories and condolences may be shared and expressed at www.allenmortuaries.com
