Mary Patricia "Pat" Scheib

June 25, 1936 — April 5, 2024

Hryum, Utah

Mary Patricia Allred Burnell Scheib or “Pat”, passed away peacefully on Friday the 5th

surrounded by family. She had declining health for a couple of years. Her passing was a joyful reunion with her sweetheart, Jerry Scheib, who had passed away in October 2020.

She was born on June 25, 1936 in Inglewood, California to Mary Emily MacDonald and Clement Allred. She graduated Inglewood High in 1954. She met and married her first husband, Robert Lee Burnell in 1955 in Centinela Ward, California. They were sealed in the St. George Temple on Sept 6, 1955. They raised the family in Lawndale, California until Bob’s retirement from the Los Angeles Police Department in 1985, where they

then moved to Hyrum, Utah.

Pat married Jerry Scheib on July 6, 1998 and they were later sealed in the Logan, Utah Temple. Her Hyrum Ward families included the 8th Ward, 15th Ward and 6th Ward. Her career endeavors were Mattel Toy Company in, El Segundo, California, where she worked in Quality Control and at Deseret Industries in Logan, Utah, as a supervisor.

Her favorite hobby was collecting dolls and making art dolls, famously called, “Burnell Dolls”. Her Burnell Dolls were a great source of pride and she had her dolls published in the Fourth Series of Modern Collector’s Dolls. She once gifted a Native American Indian doll to President Spencer W. Kimball and presented it to him personally. It was said that he kept the doll on his desk until his death. Her love of dolls inspired her to open a Doll Shop that was attached to their home and loved giving and selling dolls that she re-furbished.

She is survived by her four children: Darlinda Lee Gorley, Mark Allen Burnell, David Arthur Burnell  and Bonnie Ellen Clarke. She is also survived by her grandchildren, great-grand children, step-children and their children.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the LDS chapel located at 455 E. 100 South, Hyrum. Visitation will commence at 1:00pm and the service will start at 2:00pm. Following the service she will interred in the Hyrum Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your Ward Humanitarian Fund in her honor.
