HYRUM, UTAH: Mayme Evelyn Russell Ravsten Darley, a
 
 Genteel Southern Lady, returned to her Heavenly Home
 
 on September 1, 2006. She was born in Panama City ,
 
 Florida to James Issac Russell and Cora ‘D’ Melvin on
 
 May 28, 1916. She was raised in Apalachicola ,
 
 Florida , and graduated from Florida State University
 
 in Education. She came with her brother, Bill, to
 
 Utah so he could attend USU while she taught school.
 
 While in Cache Valley , she met James Ravsten and they
 
 were married in the Logan LDS Temple in 1943. They
 
 were blessed with 5 children. She taught school in
 
 Smithfield , Lewiston , and was the librarian for
 
 South Cache Junior High School for 9 years before her
 
 retirement. James passed away in June of 1969. She
 
 later married Farrell B Darley. He passed away in
 
 1988,
 
 
 Mother loved music, poetry, books and
 
 teaching her children and grand-children proper
 
 etiquette and correct English. She enjoyed her
 
 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and gave
 
 special care to the little one that met her at the
 
 veil, Amanda ‘Tiny’ Jensen. She was an active member
 
 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
 
 where she served in many positions. She spent many
 
 hours doing genealogy for both her own ancestors, and
 
 many others.
 
 
 She is survived by her two daughters,
 
 Leneia Rogowski and Gayle ( Laurel ) Jensen, 20
 
 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was
 
 preceded in death by her two sisters, Eva and Alba, a
 
 brother, James, two daughters, Mary Evelyn Whittaker
 
 and Laura Lea Anhder. a son, James Russell Ravsten,
 
 and a grand-daughter, Amanda Lynn Jensen. She will
 
 always be remembered for her soft southern accent and
 
 her gentle touch. She was always a lady.
 
 
 Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 pm at
 
 the Hyrum City Cemetery. Friends may call at the
 
 Allen-Hall Mortuary Tuesday from 11:00 - 12:30.
