McKenna Lynn Miner

July 16, 2004 — January 28, 2024

Lehi, Utah

McKenna Lynn Miner was born in Bellevue, Washington, on July 16, 2004, to Ryan Paul and Shauna Zemp Miner. McKenna was the eldest of four children. She spent the majority of her childhood in the Pacific Northwest, immersed in the beauty of nature. Her affinity for wild places and scenic sunsets was a cornerstone of her life. She and her family frequented the National Parks and Forests of the Western States and Canada. She loved climbing trees, running barefoot in the rain, and posing for silly selfies with her sister Ashley.

At the age of 8, she was baptized by her father and became an official member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She took an active role in the Young Women’s program and gained a reputation at Girls Camp for her archery skills and polar dip plunges. She enjoyed dressing up and collaborating with neighborhood kids to write and produce dramatic (and somewhat quirky) plays. She participated in art shows and relished the opportunity to display her creative work. At the age of 14, she became an avid and prolific genealogical indexer, having indexed thousands of records on Family Search by the age of 15. Active in student government at Summit Trail Middle School in Maple Valley, Washington, she harbored a deep love for the Seattle Seahawks and a disdain for the San Francisco 49ers.

In 2018, she and her family relocated to Lehi, Utah. The following summer, at the age of 15, she volunteered 130 hours assisting Park Rangers at Timpanogos Cave National Monument. Between 2019 and 2023, she summited Mount Timpanogos five times. Graduating with honors from Skyridge High School in 2022, she attended Brigham Young University, studying Wildlife Biology and Psychology. She took great pride in using her creativity to decorate her college apartments and bring joy to those around her.

McKenna returned to the warm embrace of her heavenly home on Sunday, January 28, 2024, surrounded by nature in a place that held many happy memories for her. She is survived by her parents, sister Ashley, brother Paul, sister Natalie, her grandparents Robert & Eileen Zemp and Paul & Karen Miner, and many more aunts, uncles, and cousins.
