Melroy Lemon

February 20, 1932 — September 13, 2025

Paradise

Melroy Lemon, 93, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, at Maple Springs Assisted Living in North Logan, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 20, 1932, in Paradise, Utah, to William and Lula Lemon. The fourth of nine children, Melroy grew up in a close-knit family and cherished those roots throughout his life.

After graduating from South Cache High School in 1951, Melroy enlisted in the United States Air Force. He proudly served in the Korean War as a Military Policeman, earning the rank of Sergeant.

After his military service, Melroy worked for a time at Thiokol and later as a railroad engineer before beginning a long and dedicated career at E.A. Miller’s. He served as a foreman on the kill floor, where he built many lasting friendships. In the evenings, he also worked at White’s Trout Farm, sharpening knives—a job he enjoyed because it allowed him to bring his children along, creating cherished family memories. Following his retirement, Melroy served for many years as sexton of the Paradise Cemetery, where he took great pride in caring for the grounds and keeping them beautiful.

On January 29, 1960, Melroy married the love of his life, Bonnie Baxter. Their story began at Lucy’s Café—a chance meeting that blossomed into a lifetime partnership filled with love, faith, and family. Together, they raised four children and built a home centered on service, kindness, and hard work.

Melroy faithfully served in many callings throughout his life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including many years as a devoted ward financial clerk, where he supported several bishops with diligence and care. Together with Bonnie, he was later blessed to serve an 18-month mission in the Chicago, Illinois Temple—an experience they cherished. After returning home, they continued their service in the Logan Temple as devoted patrons for many years.

He had many passions—fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, and softball. He was proud to pitch for his team that won the All-Church Tournament in 1967 and continued playing Senior Slow Pitch for many years. His annual Green River, Wyoming, fishing trips with his friends spanned nearly five decades. Together, they enjoyed gardening and canning well into their late eighties.

More than anything, Melroy loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He especially loved being “Grandpa,” eagerly waiting to hold each new baby as the family grew. He lived his life humbly and quietly, always doing good, and was deeply loved by all who knew him.

Melroy is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Hill Baxter; their four children, Janet (Brian) Plowman, Mike (Kathy) Lemon, Crystal (Chris) Reeder, and Lori Hall; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his son-in-law, Shawn Hall. He was the last leaf to fall from his family tree.

Known affectionately by many names—“Trout,” “Megs,” and “Mel”—he leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love. His passing is a great loss, but his memory will remain a lasting blessing to his family and friends.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Maple Springs Senior Living, Assisting Hands Home Care, Veterans Affairs, and Aegis Hospice for their loving care of Melroy over an extended period. We are truly grateful for their service, kindness, and compassion.
