LOGAN, UT – Merna Clegg Holden, a lifelong daughter of Logan and a woman of profound empathy, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. Born February 28, 1943, to Emmett and Lila Clegg, Merna lived a life defined by her deep capacity to love and her unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
A Life of Dedicated Service
A graduate of Logan City High School and Stevens-Henager College, Merna committed her professional life to the care of others. She worked for over 30 years at Sunshine Terrace, where her compassion was more than just a job- it was a calling. Her decades of service were honored with formal recognition, reflecting the heart she poured into the Logan community.
Her Greatest Passion: Family
While Merna found joy in dance and ice skating in her youth- and never lost her absolute adoration for Elvis Presley- her greatest passion was always her family.
Merna shared a uniquely special relationship with her children, Heidi and Tom, who were the center of her world. Her siblings were a constant, grounding force throughout her life, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Merna held a particularly tender bond with her niece, Dee Spencer, her cousin, Margie Hymas, and her dear friend, Linda Fonnesbeck.
She possessed a rare empathy for every person she crossed paths with, treating friends and strangers alike with genuine kindness.
