Myrna Coy Nielsen, Born Myrna Clawson on February 9, 1932, in Logan, Utah, peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on December 27, 2023, in Hyrum, Utah.  She was surrounded by her loving family.  Myrna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Myrna grew up on a farm and learned the value of hard work at a young age.  From the age of 11 to 17, she worked alongside her father, baling hay, plowing, and driving tractors.  She worked as hard as the boys.  After graduating from South Cache High School, she moved to Salt Lake City and worked at Stravell-Pattersons.  After her marriage to Dean Nielsen on December 12, 1952, in the Logan LDS Temple, she worked at Sears in the service department in Logan.

While dating Dean, Myrna enjoyed attending dances at the Elete Hall in Hyrum, known for its spring floor.  Myrna and Dean celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on December 12, 2023.  They cherished their time together and created a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Outside of her work and family life she had a passion for collecting handmade quilts for each of children and grandchildren, and was a member of the Hyrum Saddle Club.  After retirement, she and Dean enjoyed traveling around the country in their travel trailer, exploring new places and creating cherished memories.

Myrna had a passion for her family and always prioritized caring for her parents in their later years.  She was a loving and devoted wife to Dean and a wonderful mother to her daughters, Sheila Everton, Teresa Nelson (Jack), and Suzette Nielsen.  Myrna’s family was a source of great joy and pride for her.

Myrna is survived by her husband, Dean W. Nielsen, and her daughters.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lehi and Marvel Clawson, her brother, Loyd Clawson, Derwod Clawson, and Gary Clawson, her sister, Shirley Ashworth, her son-in-law, Stephen Everton, and her great-grandchildren, Kirstin Crockett and Wyatt Crockett.
