Nellie Ann Hansen Jenkins, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted disciple of Christ, returned to Heavenly Father on May 1, 2025, from her home in Brigham City, UT, at the age of 87 after enduring a long and difficult illness.
Born on April 19, 1938, in Providence UT, she was the cherished daughter of Clifford and Ivy Hansen. Nellie graduated from South Cache High School and joyfully served her community in various capacities. She attended beauty school and was a hairdresser for friends throughout her life, and worked for many years as an elementary school cafeteria cook and supervisor. She loved the company of the children.
Nellie's life was one of service and faith. A lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in her callings, including numerous years spent teaching the children. Nellie served a full-time mission in Virginia, worked for years in the temple, and assisted seniors in her community as a dedicated "Senior Companion."
Nellie was an exceptional seamstress, a gardener, and a great cook and enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. She often hosted "perm parties" for the ladies, and cared for her family and neighbors by providing regular haircare for many. Her Christ-centered life was reflected in her warm hugs, cheerful spirit, and tireless care for others. Her honesty, kindness, and dependability defined her. She was sociable, generous, and loved spending time and laughing with her sisters, always striving to lift others around her.
Her most important role in life was that of a mother and daughter of God. She centered her life around her family and served them tirelessly with delicious homemade meals and treats, sewing fun new dresses and PJs, keeping a tidy home and nice yard, and attending all their activities.
Nellie is survived by her four children: Gina, Teri, Dawnell, and Darren; six grandchildren; and thirteen and a half great-grandchildren. Her love and light continue through them.
A tribute to Mom:
"She sought the things of a better world, and let her soul delight in love, laughter, and service. Like Emma of old, she cleaved unto her covenants and walked in meekness, clothed with kindness and crowned with quiet strength. Her hands served, her heart rejoiced, and her home was a haven of safety, generosity, and grace.
She found joy in caring for the earth and for others- stitching love into every seam, baking hope into every cake, planting beauty into every garden bed. Her hugs healed. Her honesty anchored. Her laughter lit the room.
She was a woman of God-dependable, devoted, and deeply Christ-centered. And surely, as promised in Holy Scripture, a crown of righteousness shall be hers."
The family wishes to thank all who shared in Nellie's life and legacy-dear friends, extended family, the Ward Bishopric and Relief Society, and the staff of Allen-Hall Mortuary - for their loving support and service.
