Patricia “Pat” B. Hancey, 91, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Pat was born on January 2, 1935, in Logan, Utah, to Edgar Norman Parson and Lizzie Fern Parson. She married Clair Delbert Berntson in the Logan LDS Temple on September 23, 1960. They shared 20 years together until Clair’s passing on November 25, 1980. Pat later married Roland Reeder Hancey on August 9, 1985, and they shared nearly 24 years together until his passing on August 2, 2009.
Pat lived a full and remarkable life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a loyal friend to many. She had a genuine love for people and never met a stranger. Generous by nature, she cared deeply for others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved bringing people together, and her home was a place of warmth, friendship, and laughter.
Pat had a wonderful sense of adventure and curiosity about the world. She loved to travel, garden, play cards, make delicious candy, and spend time with those she loved. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, her devotion to family and friends, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her.
She is survived by her three children, Sheri (Tony) Nielson of Logan; Kristy (David) Theurer of Providence; and Cory Berntson of Chicago; as well as Roland’s three children, Bruce (Mary) Hancey of Salt Lake City; Lisa (Brad) Geary of Kaysville, Sherri (Kelly)Treseder of South Jordan; and her sister Norma Machin of Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Clair Delbert Berntson and Roland Reeder Hancey and granddaughter, Amanda Theurer.
Graveside services for family and close friends were held at the Logan City Cemetery on July 27, 2026 under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Terrace Grove Assisted Living and Community Nursing Services for the kindness, care, and compassion they showed Pat.
