Patty Jolene Hatch Bevilaqua
Mom was born July 6, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Theris and Velda Hatch. She was the baby of six kids and grew up in an ideal world. Grandma and grandpa owned a small grocery store by Liberty Park where mom and her brothers could “shop” and “play store”. Grandma never learned to drive, so her, mom and mom’s big sister would put on their best dresses and hats and take the bus to downtown Salt Lake to shop at ZCMI and look in the shop windows. When mom was nine years old they sold the store and moved to California where she lived until her and dad moved back to Utah in 1972. Mom and dad met in 1962 when she was 16 and dad was 18. The definition of high school sweethearts, they were married in 1968 and sealed, along with their first daughter, in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1971. After moving back to Utah in 1972 mom and dad added two more daughters and a son to the family, making her little family complete. In 1997 dad got a job opportunity in Eureka California so after 25 years of living in Utah they moved to Eureka with two of their four children and her beloved mother. Mom loved Eureka and we all loved visiting her there in her beautifully decorated redwood clapboard house on the hill. After 10 years when three of their four kids were living in Utah, they decided it was time to move back too, settling in Hyde Park. Mom always loved Logan and we would come up in the summers with grandma, walk around the cute downtown, stay in the Baugh Motel, eat at the Blue Bird Cafe or go up Logan Canyon for a picnic and always she said how she’d love to live in Logan one day.
Mom loved and had a strong testimony of the gospel and held many callings in Young Women’s and Relief Society. She was an exquisite seamstress and sewed for us girls, and sometimes herself, matching clothes for many years. Her attention to detail was beautiful and she continued to sew including wedding and blessing dresses even after we’d grown. She also loved cross stitching and embroidery and made everything she touched more beautiful with her incredible talents. Mom loved throwing a party and had a knack for making everyone feel special. Christmas Eve was her holiday and she loved all of her family coming together in her beautifully decorated home, laughing and enjoying being together. Our birthday parties growing up would be themed, lovingly planned and perfectly decorated and are some of our favorite memories.
Mom loved her family fiercely, family always came first. She was a proud Hatch and taught us to love and have pride in our family and our pioneer heritage. She loved her grand babies and and would sit and color or draw with them for hours. Dad was her biggest cheerleader and he supported her in whatever she wanted to do, whether that was building a patio or going on a spur of the moment trip, they were always a team. We are so grateful for the example of unwavering love that we have watched and cherished our whole lives.
Mom lived with dementia for the last six years of her life, with the last four being in memory care which was hard to watch, but dad was by her side almost daily the entire time, loving and caring for her till the end. Letting his sweetheart go was hard.
The veil was parted for Mom on January 2, 2026 where we know she was lovingly greeted by grandma and grandpa, her sister Aunt Dixie, her brothers Uncle Kay (Judith) and Uncle Don (Chuca), her son-in law Brandon and many favorite uncles, aunts and cousins. On this side of the veil she will be missed terribly by her brothers, Uncle John (Renee), and Uncle Daryl (Maureen), her four children Traci (Brandon), Kelli (Travis), Lainee (Kevin) and Ryan (Andreia), her twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her eternal sweetheart, our dad Victor.
Our family would like to thank the Memory Care staff at Sunshine Terrace for taking such tender and loving care of mom for the last four years. There aren’t words for how comforting it is to know that your person is being taken care of and loved when you can’t be there. Thank you.
Mom’s service will be held January 17th with a viewing from 10-11:30am at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan and the graveside at Logan City Cemetery 1000 N. 1200 E. at 12pm for those who would like to say good bye to our sweet mom.
