Paul Thomas Blotter passed away Friday, October 23, 2026. He was born July 1, 1938 in Logan, Utah, the son of Ernest Frederick Blotter and Verda Stirland.
Tom spent his childhood on Canyon Road where he learned the value of hard work and spent many hours hunting and fishing with his brothers Ralph and Jim. He served as a missionary in the Swiss-Austria Mission and later returned to begin his studies at Utah State University. During this time he married Jill Wallentine in the Logan Temple and they began their wonderful life together. He completed his undergraduate degree, and then continued his studies at Michigan State University when he earned a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. Tom then returned to Cache Valley and began his career as a professor of Mechanical Engineering at USU. His professional life included teaching, research, and consulting. He authored the text "Introduction to Engineering" which became the gateway for many students in the field. His abilities and skills as a consultant were in high demand and led to endless projects and adventures. During this time ranching grew from a hobby to a full-time endeavor with a large cattle operation in the Bear Lake Valley and Slug Creek Idaho. He was devoted to his family and unwavering in his commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
