Obituary

Reed Edward Jorgensen, 93, passed away on May 8, 2026 in Draper, Utah. He was a long-term resident of Providence, Utah and was born and raised in Cache Valley. Reed was born April 3rd, 1933 in Logan Utah to John W. and Nannie Nielsen Jorgensen. He was the 11th child in a family comprised of 6 boys and 6 girls. Reed spoke fondly of memories of his years growing up in Hyrum and helping with the family farm in the Pocatello valley. He loved to problem solve and fix anything and everything and was often known to stay awake into the early morning hours until a project was complete. Upon graduating from South Cache High School, Reed attended two years at Utah State University before being called to serve an LDS mission in Norway. This was an exciting call for him because of his strong Norwegian heritage and he would be able to speak Norwegian with his mother. Upon returning from his mission, he served in the U.S. Army in the Washington D.C. area. He also loved this time in his life as his primary duty became chauffeuring the generals to various meetings and enjoying the social life in D.C.

After an approximately 5-year hiatus, Reed returned to Logan to complete a Bachelors of Science in Pre-Dental with a minor in Mathematics. He then attended the St. Louis University School of Dentistry. During dental school, he met his future wife, Gail, who grew up and lived in the St. Louis area. They were married on June 9, 1961 in the Logan LDS temple and returned to St. Louis to complete his schooling and start a family. Upon his graduation in 1964, they moved to the San Jose, California area to begin his dental career.

As much as Reed and his family loved California, it wasn't long until he wanted to relocate back to Cache Valley and open a dental practice in Hyrum. For many years he maintained three separate practices in San Jose, Logan, and Hyrum. Reed decided to get his pilot’s license and owned a couple of small planes during this time. He regularly flew back and forth solo from California to Utah and always loved the independence and adrenaline rush of flying. Reed loved sharing his talents with others and gave freely of his time and energy.

Reed's greatest passion was his family. He worked hard to ensure his family thrived and he was always available to support them in any way he could. He loved adventure and continuously pushed the limits whether it was four wheeling in his old International truck, camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling, or flying his plane. There are many that have fond memories of their time with Reed.

Reed is survived by his children, Victoria (Lonnie) Helm (Hyrum, Utah), Scott (Herriman, Utah), Craig (Albuquerque, New Mexico) and Elizabeth (Ade) Adetula (Draper, Utah). He is a proud grandfather of thirteen; great grandfather of thirteen; dear uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Gail Alada Jorgensen, his parents, and all eleven of his siblings and their spouses.

The family would like to thank Ashford Assisted Living and Memory Care and Serenity Hospice for their kind and loving staff.

A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center St, Logan, Utah on Friday, May 15, from 12:00 – 1:00. A graveside service and dedication will immediately follow at 1:30 at the Hyrum City Cemetery.

Thank you dad and mom, for your love, your concern, and your endless support. You are deeply missed.
