Rita Alice Bean

Rita passed peacefully in her home on November 1, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Born March 4, 1931 to Joseph Patneaude and Alice Desrochers in Passumpsic Vermont. She was the secondoldest of twelve children. She spent her childhood in Vermont and was a active participant and leader in 4-H. She taught sewing, cooking and was a nutrionist for the state of Vermont. She married Venan Howard Bean in June 3, 1949 and welcomed 7 children into the world.

They later moved to Cache Valley in 1976 and settled in Hyrum, UT. Rita maintained a active lifestyle, she was an avid gardener and birdwatcher throught her life. During her time in Cache Valley she was a staple at Smithfield Implement where she worked for over 30 years until her retirement in 2019. Rita was active in the St. Jerome Newman Center and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and remained so until her passing.

She is preceded in death by her sweetheart Venan Bean, her grandson Johnny Mitchell, granddaughter Kelly Bean, Daughter-in-law Tammy Bean, and 4 siblings. She is survived by her children Carolyn (Russell) Mitchell, Brookfield, VT., Richard (Denise) Bean, Chelsea, VT., Rodney (Natalie) Bean, Logan, UT., Denise (Tim) Knowlton, Idaho Falls, ID., Ellen (Don) Schleimer, Irwin, IA., Nancy Bean, Hyrum, UT., Mark Bean, Colorado Springs, CO. Along with 24 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and 7 siblings.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday November, 18 in the St. Jerome Newman Center in Logan, UT with Father Rogelio conducting the services. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Veteran’s cemetery in Randolph, VT in the coming Spring.
