Ronald Lloyd Allen

Ronald Lloyd Allen, 91, passed away Saturday, 12 September 2026 in Happy Valley, Clackamas, Oregon. He was born on May 8, 1935, in Logan, Cache, Utah, the son of Lloyd Donald Allen and Grace Forrester. He married Carol Tanner on Aug. 1, 1958, in the Logan Temple.

Married for 68 years with a posterity of 10 children, 48 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

He graduated from South Cache High School and attended Utah State University in Aeronautical Engineering for three years.

Served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints in the Eastern States Mission for two years and returned to USU.

Ron met Carol Tanner in 1957 while attending USU. Ron joined Delta Phi to open the opportunity to meet girls of his faith. In the USU library he met Erma Jean Dorius a taller beautiful roommate of Carol . [Dorius] suggested one of her roommates [might be short enough] and offered to set up a “blind date” for him. Carol was not happy with his concern of dating taller girls and chose to wear very high heels, a high hat, and a sleek black dress to appear extra tall on this “blind “date. By the end of the date Carol had warmed up to Ron (she removed her hat) and the following year we were married.

Ron changed his major to Biology to be eligible for dental school shortly after marrying Carol. He was accepted at the Dental School of the University of Washington in1959. Graduating with a DDS degree in 1963. Upon graduation he joined a tour of duty in the United States Air Force after which he decided to specialize in Orthodontics. He completed this study at U of W with an MSD degree in 1972.

Ron Joined the United States Air Force as a Captain and was accepted among 12 Medical Students from the continental United States. This exclusive group participated in an “Advance Clinical Training” [Program]: a clinical monthly medical rotation at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas

After this training, Ron was assigned to serve at the Portland, Oregon Air Force Base for 18 months and then one year in the Viet Nam war effort in Udon, Thani Air Base in northeastern Thailand working as a dentist.

Ron enjoyed immensely working in the Dental Profession, both as a general dentist and in the practice of Orthodontics for 30 plus years. He managed a practice in Portland Oregon and Camas Washington.

Ron served in many religious calling over the years. Servicemen’s Group Leader in Udon Thani Air Force Base, Bishop of 12th ward in 1971, Bishop of Happy Valley ward in 2001 Portland Stake Presidency Councilor, Seminary teacher for 6 years, Family History support Missionary 2006-2008, Temple Ordinance Worker 2011, Patriarch 2011, Temple Sealer 2014, and Ron served a second mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with his wife, Carol, in the England Manchester Mission.

Ron’s hobbies were vast: Family, gardening, running, hiking, hunting, biking, fishing, camping, traveling, building and flying model airplanes, both free flight and radio control, serving others, and smiling always as Jesus Christ would have us do.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Tanner Allen, Happy Valley, Oregon; five sons and four daughters. Jeffery Ronald (Poppy) and children Jeffery William (Anneli), Alicia Marie Warren (Matt), Maddison Chantelle Dalton (Matt), Pierce Edwin (Jeremy), Sophia Grace Eckhart (Brady), Payton Lewis (Abbey), Samuel Forrester Allen. Brian Lloyd (Sheri) and children Jennifer Kunz (McKay), Melissa, Nathan Brian, and Daniel Ronald (Jasmyn). Trevor William (Lisa) and children Aubrey Ruth, Colby Trevor (Katana), Sierra Eleanore McCombs (Nathan), Savanna Eliza, Arielle Grace.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
