In the presence of his family, Roy Gregory Sorenson, 66, of Hyrum, Utah, died on December 21, 2025, at McKee Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. He was born on September 20, 1959, to Roy Ariel and Dorthie Ann Westen Sorenson.
Roy grew up in Providence, Utah. Except for a few years during his elementary school years, when his family moved to Ohio and then to Pennsylvania to be with their father, who worked as a Master Electrician for the Union. He also reminisced about the summer his family went to Seattle, Washington, again to be with their father, and camped in state parks by the ocean. There, they enjoyed exploring the terrain and playing on the beach.
In 1983, Roy earned his Electronic Technician Certification at Bridgerland Applied Technology College and completed his internship at Campbell Scientific Inc. He was then hired by the company where he worked for nearly 40 years. Roy took great pride in his work at CSI and developed many lifelong friendships with his coworkers.
On August 24, 1984, he married Stephanie Bickmore. The two of them spent 45 years together, counting the four years they dated before marrying. They were married in Stephanie's childhood home, and in 1990, they purchased the house from her mother.
Roy and Stephanie were best friends who loved spending time outdoors. They participated in various outdoor sports, including skiing at Beaver Mountain, and they made it a tradition to take an annual trip with close friends to the Targhee Ski Resort. Roy was a skilled skier who enjoyed skiing all types of terrain, especially fresh, powdery slopes.
In addition to skiing, Roy and his wife enjoyed mountain biking, golfing, and side-by-side rides. They frequently attended the NHRA drag races at Las Vegas Speedway, rode their Harley-Davidson motorcycles through Island Park and Yellowstone, and cherished time spent at their Bear Lake home with family and friends.
Roy is survived by his wife, Stephanie; sister, Brenda Lee (Don) Carling of Apache Junction, AZ; brother, Courtney Lynn (Luida) Sorenson; sister, Nanette (Colin) Blau of Rock Springs, WY; and brother, Bradly Sorenson of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, William D. (Sharron) Bickmore; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Michael) Hill; Susan (Cheryl Markle) Gagnier; and many nephews and nieces.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brothers-in-law: James, Brent, and Steven Clark.
