Obituary

Ruth Allen Robertson, 89, passed away peacefully from complications of liver cancer on Saturday, July 25, 2026 in Layton, surrounded by family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and kindness will be deeply cherished by all who knew her.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Ruth served for seven years as a flight nurse during the Vietnam War. Her lifelong calling to care for others continued through a distinguished 35-year career in nursing, where her steady presence and compassion touched countless lives.

Outside of her career, Ruth lived a vibrant and hands-on life. She enjoyed a round of golf, crafted intricate cross-stitch projects while cheering on the Utah Jazz, and spent many spirited evenings playing cards with family and close friends - always quick with a sharp wit and a smile.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Robertson also an Air Force veteran, whom she met during their service and with whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded by her parents, Grover and Frances Allen; her brothers Joseph, Harris, Gilbert, James Ron, and Bruce; and her sisters Edris and Leora.

She is survived by her son, Allen (Teresa) Robertson, and her sister, NaDean Buttars.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to the exceptional staff at Fairfield Village of Layton, where Ruth resided for over a decade, for their continued kindness and care.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St., Logan on Thursday, July 30th from 9:30-10:30AM. A graveside service with military honors will follow at the Richmond City Cemetery at 11AM.
