Ryker Lance Dattage

July 16, 1996 — August 2, 2014

HYDE PARK, UTAH: Ryker Lance Dattage (18) of Hyde Park, Utah was born July 16, 1996 and passed away August 2, 2014, due to an auto accident in Logan Canyon.

Ryker lived life on his terms.  If he wanted to do something he was all in and if not there wasn’t much anyone could do to change his mind.  Only now do we understand why he had no time for certain things like home-work or keeping his room clean.  He was too busy getting to know as many people as possible, spending time with family and friends, laughing, loving, and living life to the fullest right through to the other side.

Ryker was preceded in death by his brother, Hinckley David Dattage, his Grandpa George Allan Day, and his Uncle David Day. He is survived by his parents Lance Elden and Tonia Day Dattage and his brother Hayden Allan Dattage.  He is also survived by his Grandparents Elden and Tamra Pickett Dattage of Providence and his Grandmother Catharine Decker Day Overson of Springville and his aunts and uncles Jodi and Jeff Morgan, Kimberly and Shea Watrin, Ryan Dattage, Jill and Adam Johnson, Dana and Burton Romney, Joseph and Kristen Day, and Catryna and Steve Faux.

Ryker loved his cousins.  He was their friend and many little ones looked up to him.  He influenced them here on this earth and will continue to influence them.  He leaves behind Chase, Taesha, Taylor, Mitch, and Jordan Morgan; Andrew, Zach, and Meili Romney; Hunter, Reagan, Samantha and Kinnick Watrin; Cassea, Grant, Maia, and Makenzie Day; Annika, Ethan, Emily, and Lillian Faux; Kendal and Kyson Dattage; and Andrew and MaeLee Johnson.

Ryker loved life and always had a smile on his face.  He enjoyed anything with wheels, from the garbage truck going around the block as a toddler, to the biggest tow-truck he could operate. He was employed at Elden Dattage Towing and Auto Repair. He and his friends of the official/unofficial “Sky View Fishing Club” ran their old junk yard Bronco into the ground.  From his first year of life Ryker loved to talk and talk and talk.  This was a huge asset to him as a member and Impromptu Captain of the Sky View Debate and Speech Team. He made many friends far and wide competing in tournaments. Skiing at Beaver Mountain brought much joy to Ryker and especially a fast and furious run with Dad.

Ryker was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Sky View High School and L.D.S. Seminary class of 2013-2014

On May 7, 2014 he received an L.D.S. mission call to serve in the Rapid City, South Dakota mission.  He was so excited to go and had prepared his whole life for the day that he could serve his Savior, Christ Jesus, full time.  His parents will forever be grateful for the time they took with him on a pre-mission road trip to some of the areas in which he would have served.

Accompanied by family from both sides of the veil he went to the Logan, L.D.S. Temple on July 26, 2014 and received his endowment.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 7, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at the Hyde Park 9th Ward Chapel, 75 East Center Street. Friends and family may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center, Logan on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8pm and at the Hyde Park ward building on Thursday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Interment will be in the Providence City Cemetery.

A special thanks from the Dattage family to the E.M.T. Personnel, Utah Highway Patrol, and the Rich and Cache County Sheriff offices for the personal attention given beyond duty.  Thanks to all who have reached out, given service, and loved us during this difficult time.  Our home is always open to those who want to come and hug and cry and share their stories of Ryker.  Please feel free to post your thoughts, stories, and photos of him on Ryker’s
