Wife. Mother. Grandmother. Great-grandmother. Faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.

Sally Jean Beckstead Hunsaker returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on July 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving children at Logan Regional Hospital.

Born in 1938, in West Jordan, Utah, Sally was the youngest of five children born to E. Glen and Leona Thayne Beckstead. Raised on a dairy farm, she developed a lifelong love for animals—especially her beloved Jersey cows—and a deep appreciation for hard work and the simple joys of life. She adored her siblings: D. Marcel, Bill, Rea, Lucille, and Robert, and treasured the memories they created together.

A proud graduate of Jordan High School, Class of 1956, Sally went on to attend Utah State University, where she met the love of her life, Ray Hunsaker. They were sealed for time and all eternity on September 5, 1957, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Together, Sally and Ray built a beautiful legacy of faith, family, and service. A devoted wife, she stood faithfully by Ray’s side in every endeavor. They made homes and dear friendships in Logan, Vernal, Sandy, and River Heights, blessing countless lives wherever they lived.

Sally was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent countless hours serving others—quilting for humanitarian projects, preparing homemade meals for those in need, and delighting neighbors with her famous spudnuts each Halloween. Her talents for sewing, cooking, and caring for others blessed her family and her community in ways too numerous to count. She loved her country and raised her family with unwavering faith and enduring love.

Those who carry on her legacy include her beloved children: Jeanne (Ken) Clement of West Jordan, Utah; Darlene (Dan) Winterholler of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Glen (Holly) Hunsaker of Lyman, Utah; Holly (Steve) Hill of Logan, Utah; Joy (Don) Gowans of Bountiful, Utah; and Teryl (Maria) Hunsaker of Providence, Utah.

Sally’s greatest joy was her family — her love and example continue through her 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Her family finds comfort in the promise found in Alma 40:11: “Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection—Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, are taken home to that God who gave them life.”

With this assurance, we know Sally has now returned home to be joyfully reunited with her eternal companion, Ray, her parents, and her cherished siblings.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Sally’s legacy of love and service by donating to the Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at Logan Regional Hospital who cared for our beloved mother in her final hours. Your love, compassion, and gentle support to her and to all of us will never be forgotten.
