Sara Madeen Hartwick

July 26, 1932 — April 16, 2025

North Logan

Sara (Sally) Hartwick, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 at the age of 92. Sally was born in Samaria, Idaho on July 26, 1932 to Roscoe and Ida Smith. She and her four siblings Joann, Arthur, Brent and Sue were raised on a farm in Holbrook, Idaho and Malad Idaho.

She had two children, Curtis and Michelle, with her first husband Stanford Mathews. After their divorce, Sally met the love of her live Ronald Hartwick whom she spent 52 years of a truly cherished life together.

Sally was an avid bowler and spent many years traveling for tournaments, enjoying so many great experiences with her friends Darleen and Daryl. She was an avid gardener and always maintained a beautiful garden. She also never hesitated to cook for friends and family when they came over to visit.

Ron and Sally spent many amazing years at their cabin on Dike Lake near Soda Springs, Idaho. She and Ron transformed their cabin from a small trailer into a wonderful home for all their friends and family. Their cabin at the lake always had visitors coming by and Sally loved to spend time chatting and laughing with visitors, playing cards, and enjoying the wonderful beauty of the lake and surrounding area even though she was terrified of water also she was afraid that the water would mess up her hair. Of all things Sally loved being with her friends and family and found any excuse to find laughter and happiness in her everyday life.

Sally is survived by her husband, Ron Hartwick, her children, Curtis Mathews (Susan) and Michelle Mathews Cooke, her sister Sue, her brother Brent and her 4 grandchildren (1 deceased) and 6 great grandchildren that she adored.

We will all miss her joy of life and the joy she brought to our lives. We love you Sally our friend, Mom, Sister, Grandmother and Great-grandmother and most of all a devoted and loving wife to Ron.

She enjoyed nature and animals so in lieu of flowers you can donate to Best Friends Animal Shelter donations@bestfriends.org

Thanks to everyone who helped with her care over the past several years.
