Wellsville

Shane Knute Roholt, age 57, of Wellsville, Utah, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.

Shane was born on June 3, 1968, in Tucson, Arizona, to Reed and Ellen Roholt. He grew up on an 80 acre farm in Hinckley, UT with his sister Kodi. They loved to torment each other, at least one of them had stitches or bruises at any given time. They had a lot of laughs and good times together. He graduated from Delta High School in 1986 and went on to attend Snow College. Shane was introduced to Kandi Walbom-Gonzalez by mutual friends in West Valley City, Utah, while playing guitar for the band Wicken Fenn. After a short engagement, they were married in Murray, Utah, on July 20, 1991, and made their home in West Valley City.

Shane became an instant father at a young age to Ren and Trevor and embraced this role with grace, joy, and deep dedication. The couple was later blessed with another son, Kaden, in 1996. Shane loved being a dad and demonstrated it every day through his playful nurturing and care for the boys. His children knew him as a steady presence and a source of fun, and he gave them a childhood filled with love, laughter, and music—gifts they have carried with them throughout their lives. In 1997, the family moved to Mt. Sterling, Utah, where Shane and Kandi later divorced.

Throughout his life, Shane worked in many careers, including mowing lawns for Sutherland Landscaping, painting cars for Jardine Collision Repair, fabricating and installing internal and external electric signs for A.D.S. International and Cache Valley Electric Signs, manufacturing billboards for Young Electric Sign Company (YESCO). Shane was known around the valley as “the sign guy” and loved pointing out the many signs he built and installed over the years. Most recently Shane served as an Assistant Team Lead in the mailroom at Conservice.

Shane met Janette shortly after he began working at YESCO. They were married in 2009 and have lived in Mt. Sterling, Utah, since that time. They loved each other deeply and enjoyed gardening together, spending time with grandkids, they had close friends that they would frequently spend time with and going on motorcycle rides together.

Shane was known for his kindness, humor, strong work ethic, creativity, love of music, and deep dedication to his family. He especially loved playing the guitar, painting, drawing, and expressing himself creatively. He also had a deep love for animals and cared for many throughout his life. He adored his two cats, Missy and Sissy, and his bunny, Buster. Most of all, his dad jokes were top-tier, and he always knew how to make people laugh.

Shane is survived by his wife, Janette Roholt; his two stepsons, Brandon (Sophon) Ryan and Jake Rassmussen; and his children, Ren (Allison) Gonzalez, Trevor (Shantel) Gonzalez, and Kaden Roholt. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Jaxon, Drake, Mia, Ivy, Trey, Tesa, Rad, Bailey, Brinley, Parker, Riley, Ryan, Titan, Aeson, and JJ.

He is further survived by his three sisters, Starlyn Peterson, Kodi Sathe, and Robyn Sciuto, and his father, Reed (Irene) Roholt. Shane was preceded in death by his mother, Ellen Roholt, and his stepson, Billy Ryan.

A celebration of life will be held on December 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Allan Hall Mortuary followed by a graveside service.
