Obituary

Shannon Birdwell Maughan Olsen, 50, passed away on May 28, 2026, at Logan, Utah.

Shannon was born on December 26, 1975, in Provo, Utah, to Micol Robert Clark Maughan and Dorothy Francis (Birdwell) Maughan. Throughout her childhood, she lived and attended schools in Utah, Iowa, Illinois, Texas, and Oregon. She settled in Utah and did course work at Bridgerland Technical College and Utah State University with an interest in computer science. At the time of her passing, she worked as a Production Expeditor at RR Donnelly (RRD) in Logan.

Shannon was married to Trevor Olsen in December of 2018 until his death in May 2024. She is survived by her children McKinsey (George) of Beaverton, Oregon, DaFiren of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Aaron of Logan, Utah; her father and siblings: Damon (Cristin), Tavid (Evelyn), Bruce (Jill), Justin (Cassandra), Amber (Larry). Also left to cherish her memory is her grandmother Eve Maughan Archibald along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Growing up, Shannon played hard trying to keep up with three older brothers and showing her younger brother and sister “the ropes”. She enjoyed playing softball, being in nature and camping. The Oregon Coast held special memories for Shannon where some of her ashes will be spread. Even though Shannon faced hardships and struggles in her life, she never lost her compassion for people, pets, and nature. She dedicated herself to NA and served on committees to assist and support many others in their struggle.

The celebration of Shannon’s life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 2 to 3:30 pm at LDS Chapel, 280 West 1200 North, Logan, Utah. Her ashes will be interred at a private ceremony.

Shannon will be deeply missed by family and friends.
