Sharon Johnsen Crookston

June 4, 1940 — April 2, 2026

Logan

Sharon Johnson Crookston passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, with her four daughters by her side.

Sharon was born on June 4, 1940, in Brigham City, Utah, to Max Hansen Johnsen and Sarah Wilma Adams. She was raised in Box Elder County and graduated from Box Elder High School. After high school, she worked at Thiokol Chemical Corporation, where she met her husband, Ronald Hugh Crookston. They married and raised their four daughters in Logan, Utah.

Sharon was creative, resourceful, and impeccably organized. She used her artistic talents to beautify her home and surroundings, finding joy in creating something meaningful from even the simplest materials.

She was deeply loved by her grandchildren, who knew her as Nana, GG, or GGma—names she cherished and answered to with joy. Her home was a gathering place, filled with laughter and love. Many treasured memories were made on her backyard swing beneath the apple tree, nestled between lilacs and hydrangeas, often with a Creamie popsicle or a Rootsie Pop in hand. The dining room table often doubled as a place for competitive card games or puzzles always with a bowl of treats. Her home offered a place of comfort and connection where family and friends spent countless hours visiting and relaxing.

Sharon was a loyal and devoted friend, maintaining many lifelong relationships. In the 1970s, she and two friends founded a creative business called Etc., opening a storefront in Hyrum, Utah, and hosting traveling craft parties, often with kids in tow.

A woman of quiet but unwavering faith, Sharon demonstrated strength and grace throughout her life, especially in times of illness and adversity. She faced challenges with courage and lived in a state of spiritual readiness, grounded in her relationship with the Lord.

Sharon was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout her life. In 2006, she and her husband served a mission in the Las Vegas Mission, spending their entire time in Winnemucca, Nevada. They developed deep love for the people there and became cherished surrogate grandparents to many of the young missionaries with whom they served.

She and Ron spent many winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they formed lasting friendships with people from across the country. After Ron’s passing, Sharon devoted herself to her garden, where she could often be found tending and creating beauty. After a year of living independently, she moved to Terrace Grove Assisted Living in Logan, Utah. Wherever she lived, Sharon truly bloomed where she was planted.

Sharon had a delightful sense of humor and a fun-loving spirit. As she aged, her humor only grew, becoming a hallmark of her time at Terrace Grove, where she spent the final four and a half years of her life. She loved the staff and residents, bringing joy and laughter to those around her. Terrace Grove became a place of belonging and safety, for which her family will be forever grateful.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Terrace Grove, as well as the hospice team, for the loving care they provided, especially following Ron’s passing.

Sharon is survived by her sister, Vickie (Scott) Zundel of Palm Desert, California; her four daughters, Teresa (Michael) Larsen, Coreen (Kris) Larsen, Allison (Derrick) Longson, and Jennifer (Paul) Schofield; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ronald Hugh Crookston, and her parents, Max Hansen Johnsen and Sarah Wilma Adams.

A viewing will be held at Allen-Hall Mortuary 34 E Center Street in Logan, Utah, on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a funeral service at noon. Interment will take place at the Logan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to Terrace Grove Assisted Living or Sunshine Terrace Hospice in support of their continued care for others.
