Susan Faye Nielsen, age 74, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, at Maple Springs Living Center. She was born on May 23, 1951, in Logan, Utah, to Marriner Gessel Nielsen and Bena Nelson.
Susan was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her faith quietly guided the way she lived, served, and loved.
She grew up surrounded by the love of her parents and her four brothers—Arthur (Wende), Dennis (Vickie), Alan (Meriam), and Greg (Becky). Family was always at the center of her life. She adored her nieces and nephews and loved them as if they were her own.
A proud graduate of Utah State University, Susan earned her degree in 1980 and dedicated her life to education. She taught elementary school throughout Cache Valley, inspiring students in Wellsville, Nibley, and Providence. She was not only a gifted classroom teacher but also a trusted mentor to many student teachers, sharing her experience, encouragement, and unwavering passion for helping others learn and grow.
Susan loved books and shared that love freely—always ready with a recommendation, a loaned copy, or a gentle nudge toward a story she thought someone might enjoy. Her generosity was felt by all who knew her. She would do anything for her family, her students, and the colleagues she cherished. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer in the classroom, unable to step away from the joy of helping children learn.
Her family deeply appreciates the kind and loving care she received at Maple Springs Living Center over the past three years.
Susan’s legacy lives on in the countless children she taught, the educators she mentored, and the family and friends who were blessed by her steady kindness. She will be remembered for her warmth, her dedication, and the quiet but undeniable impact she made on so many lives.
