Susan Reese Oldham

October 27, 1959 — October 13, 2023

Millville

Susan Reese Oldham, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2023. She was surrounded by her family, whom she loved with all her heart, and who never left her side.

Despite the deep pain we feel losing Susan, we rejoice in the precious gift that she was to all of us, and trust in the knowledge that we’ll see her again.

Susan was born on October 27, 1959, to Sharlene and Charles Reese. She grew up on a dairy farm in Benson, UT.  On the farm she spent her free time riding her beloved horse Moonlight, and dressing feral cats in doll clothes. She lost a lot of doll clothes and gained a strong tolerance for cat scratches! She adored her parents Charles and Sharlene, and loved her siblings, Brent and Laurie. It was here that she developed a deep life-long, unbreakable bond with her sister Laurie. Susan and Laurie were “peas in a pod,” they finished each other’s sentences, laughed together (a lot!!!), cried together and were best friends to the end. Growing up on the farm provided Susan with a “tough as nails” streak that carried her through many challenges in life. This inner strength was on full display as she fought ferociously to stay in this life with her family.

She attended Sky View High School and Ricks College. Susan’s infectious laugh and spirit of adventure attracted many friends, including her husband and best friend, Randy Oldham, whom she married in the Logan Temple on August 1, 1980, for time and all eternity. Through 43 years of marriage Susan and Randy were inseparable. They were the perfect complement to each other, soulmates and best friends.

Susan and Randy raised three boys, Jared, Jordan, and Tyler. Her boys were her life and everything she did was for them. She was their biggest fan, fiercest defender, and most loyal friend. Through every up and down, Susan was always there willing to sacrifice anything and everything for them. Her boys (including Randy) were truly the love of her life. They have always been her everything. She ensured her boys were raised with a knowledge and love of their Savior, and she loved to support them as they have served across the world.

Her boys found the love she prayed they’d find in three amazing daughters-in-law, Alyssa (Tyler), Kate (Jordan), and Michelle (Jared). These ladies loved Susan and Susan loved them. They became her best friends. Her three boys, each have three boys, Jordan (Cache, Austin, Jack); Tyler (Russell, James, Thomas); Jared (Owen, Theo, Mack). In addition to these nine grandsons, Susan had two granddaughters that she absolutely adored, Macy (Jordan), and Piper (Tyler). Her 11 grandchildren loved Grammy with all of their little hearts. Her house was their favorite place. Sleepovers at Grammy’s were magical. They referred to her house as the “Grammy-verse” because everything was so fun, tasted so good, and was so soft and cozy, it was like they were in a different and much better universe. They will never forget the love they felt from Grammy Suzy.

Her laugh was contagious and she was the life of the party. People flocked to her knowing they would be accepted and valued just the way they are. The boys remember summer nights with Susan sitting on the front porch laughing so loudly with friends, that the boys had a hard time sleeping in the house.

As we mourn the tragic loss of Susan, we take comfort in knowing that she has been taken home to the God that gave her life and happily reunited with her “Mum” Sharlene, her Dad Charles, her Brother Brent, and her in-laws Russell & LeBerta, as well as countless friends and loved ones that have gone before.

The family will be hosting a celebration of her life at an open house event on Friday, October 20, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Old Rock Church, 10 S Main Street, Providence, Utah 84332. Please come celebrate the life of this amazing woman with us! Flowers can be sent to Allen-Hall Mortuary.

The family would like to especially thank the emergency personnel, ICU nurses, and Neurosurgery team at McKay Dee Hospital, for treating Susan and our family with love and dignity during our darkest hours.
