Susan Elizabeth Potter
February 26, 1951 – January 9, 2026
Susan Elizabeth Erdman Potter, our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, passed away quietly in the early morning of January 9, 2026, surrounded by her family. Sue lived a life defined by her dedication to loving, serving, and lifting others.
Early Life and Career
Born on February 26, 1951, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada, Sue was a woman of deep compassion and professional skill. She spent her professional career as an ER nurse and caregiver, a role that perfectly suited her natural desire to provide comfort and healing to those in their most vulnerable moments.
Faith and Service
A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Susan’s testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, was the guiding force behind every choice she made. She shared this love through a full-time mission in Bolivia and a lifelong devotion to teaching and serving the youth. Whether in a classroom or a one-on-one conversation, she had a unique gift for making others feel seen and valued.
Passions and Legacy
Outside of her family, professional and church service, Sue’s greatest passion was her garden. She found peace and joy in the earth, cultivating beauty just as she cultivated the spirits of those around her. Although we will deeply miss her kind words and tender hugs, we take comfort in knowing she is once again ministering to the poor in spirit and the brokenhearted.
Family
Susan is survived by her husband, Harold Potter; her children, Michael, Michelle, John, and David; and her ten grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her living siblings Francis Anne (Erdman) Belliveau, Audrey Leonie (Erdman) Zwack, and Leon Isidore Francis Erdman. She was preceded in death by her daughter Sarah; her parents, Edward Raphael Erdman and Valentine Marie Eugenie Falhun; and her siblings Louis Erdman and Denise (Erdman) Rapin.
Services and Memorials
