Valente Ibarria Quezada

May 21, 1946 — March 4, 2026

Smithfield, Utah

Valente Ibarria, age 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones and friends on Wednesday, March 4th, 2026, at his home in Smithfield, Utah.

He was born on May 21st, 1946, in Tuxpan, Nayarit, Mexico.

Raised in very humble circumstances, Valente began working on Agricultural fields at just four years of age to help support his siblings and family. From a very young age, he learned the value of hard work, sacrifice, and devotion to those he loved.

In 1962 at just 16 years old, he moved to San Luis Colorado, Sonora, in search of better work opportunities. It was there that he met the love of his life, Margarita, on March 23rd, 1971. They were married shortly after, on May 17th, 1971, beginning a loving partnership that would last 55 years.

Yearning for a better life, they decided to chase a brighter future in the United States. So, on May 10th, 1972, Valente and Margarita moved to California. They started with very little, but through determination, faith, and tireless work, they built a life together. Eventually purchasing a home and raising their children with love and strong values.

In May of 2000, missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited their home. One month later, Valente and Margarita chose to be baptized, beginning a spiritual journey that became an important part of their lives. They were later sealed in the temple, strengthening their eternal bond and devotion to their faith.

In July 2005, Valente and Margarita visited Smithfield, Utah, and quickly fell in love with the area and community. Soon after, Valente would retire from his job at MGF in the City of Industry, California. Where he dedicated over two and a half decades of service. Valente worked his way up to a management position where he was known for his diligence, strong work ethic, and commitment to providing for his family.

After selling the home they had lived in for 22 years, they relocated to Smithfield on February 7, 2006. There they began a new chapter of their lives, faithfully serving the Lord and the community for as long as their health allowed.

Valente was preceded in death by his parents, Felicitas Isabella Quesada and Vicente Ibarria, Ashley Ibarria (granddaughter) and Vicente Ibarria (grandson).

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Margarita; nine children; 32 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a legacy of hard work, unwavering faith, and deep love for his family. Valente will be remembered for his humble beginnings, strength, perseverance, great love for the outdoors, and the example he set for future generations. His life was a testament to faith, family, and the blessings that come from dedication and love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E Center Logan. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 27 at 11:00 AM at the Smithfield 12th Ward 155 W 400 N Smithfield. A viewing will precede the funeral at 9:30 AM.
