Vera Joyce Johnson was born October 3, 1920 in Mesa,
 
 Arizona to Vera DeFries Johnson and Jesse Denver
 
 Johnson, their third out of five children. She was
 
 educated in the Mesa City schools, and attended
 
 college in Logan, Utah, graduating with a Teaching
 
 Degree in English and a minor in History from USAC
 
 (now USU). She married Guy N. Cardon of Logan. They
 
 are parents of three children, Alice Cardon Crockett,
 
 Joel Guy Cardon, and Zoe Grehta Cardon; grandparents
 
 of four: Hilary Horton-Brown, Jack Earl Horton III,
 
 Emma Joyce Cardon, and Lucy Claire Cardon; and great
 
 grandparents to Siera Jane Horton and Cortland Jack
 
 Horton.
 
 Joyce loved reading, writing, learning, cultural
 
 arts, and nature's beauties.
 
 One brother-in-law, Bob Peterson, of Mesa, Arizona
 
 survives of the Arizona family.
