Victor Privalsky, 88, of Logan, Utah, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in the Logan Regional Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1937, in Moscow, Russia.
Victor grew up in Moscow, where he graduated from Moscow State University with a master's degree in Oceanography. Later, he earned a Doctor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from the same university.
In the early 1990s, Victor moved to the USA, following an invitation to work as a visiting scientist. He devoted many years of his life to a career as a Senior Scientist at the Space Dynamics Laboratory in Logan, Utah. He spent 10 years working in the RAMOS program (Russin-American Observation Satellites), which was a collaborative U.S. - Russian effort managed by Utah State University’s Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) in the 1990s, and was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and integrity. Victor took great pride in his work and the relationships he built along the way.
After retiring from his primary career, Victor devoted himself to writing scientific books on climate change, which quickly sold out and required multiple reprintings due to their popularity within the scientific community.
Victor will also be remembered for his personal qualities - kindness, generosity, and dedication to his friends and family. He was an avid reader, lover of arts, theater, history, and science. His curiosity in everything was contagious, and a fascinating person to be around.
Victor was preceded in death by his first wife, Iraida, and their only daughter, Maria. Since their passing, he has been consistently contributing to the causes of Alzheimer's and Lymphoma, which took the lives of his two family members prematurely.
In 2002, Victor Married Olga Vedina in Logan, Utah. The two of them spent 23 years together. He is survived by his wife Olga; grandchildren Benjamin and Julia Williams; stepdaughter, Anna Vedina (Kostadin Damevski); and step-grandchildren, Sasha and Ivan Damevski.
