Wade Avery Stewart

Wade Avery Stewart, 70, passed away on September 4, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with several health challenges. Through every trial, Wade's gentle spirit and warm smile never faded, and those who loved him look forward to the day they see that sweet smile again.

Born on October 13, 1955, in Chadron, Nebraska, Wade was the son of Larry "Gene" Stewart and Bonnie Jean Hamar.

From a young age, Wade displayed remarkable talent in many areas, but he especially excelled in boxing, earning several titles in the lightweight division.

His hands were just as skilled outside the ring-he was an exceptional mechanic who worked on heavy-duty equipment such as forklifts and steamrollers. His greatest mechanical joy, however, was working on his beloved Pontiac GTO hardtop.

Wade proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Police officer. His service allowed him to live in several states across the country with his wife and children, and he later spent time stationed in Germany. It was there that he was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a faith that became a cherished part of his life. 

Wade was an avid reader, especially of westerns and history, and his favorite book-the one always found on his side table-was The Book of Mormon.

Above all, Wade's greatest joy in life was his children. Whether visiting with them, watching sports together, or sharing a meal, he treasured every moment. He especially loved meals that included pizza, tacos, French fries, Dr Pepper, Snickers, or cherry bings.

Wade is survived by his mother, Bonnie Stewart; his brother, Eddie Stewart; his sister, LaDonna Stewart; his six children: Avery (Tristin) Stewart, Kelly (David) Schirado, Shawna (Ernie) Dean, Taurean (Jenn) Stewart, Adrian (Kellie) Stewart, and Tiffany (Casey) Knuppe; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Stewart.

Wade lived a life full of grit, humor, faith, and love. His legacy continues in the hearts of his family, who will forever remember his kindness, his stories, his laughter, and the way he made each of them feel deeply loved.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who assisted Wade throughout his life. Those at Cache Valley Assisted Living, Legacy House of Logan and Utah Care Management who cared for him not just with skill, but with genuine affection. Our family will always remember their kindness and the comfort they brought to Wade and to us.

A memorial service will be held at Smithfield Cemetery in Smithfield, Utah, on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 12 p.m., with burial services to follow.
