Wesley McKay Smith, 17, of Petersboro, Utah, passed away tragically on May 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of ingenuity, love, and boundless passion. Born on July 16, 2007, in Bountiful, Utah, Wesley’s short but vibrant life touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Wesley was a born fixer, gifted with an extraordinary ability to repair anything. His hands were rarely still, always tinkering, building, or bringing something back to life.

His desire to move forward in life led him to graduate high school early in 2025. He immediately pursued his dream career as a mechanic, landing a job at a local garage where his skill and work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and customers alike.

Ever active, Wesley rode every type of board he could find. During winter months, he hoped for snow so he could head up the mountain with his snowboard. As soon as the snow melted, he spent every spare minute he could find on his skateboard.

Wesley’s heart raced for motorcycles. With some of his first paychecks, he bought his pride and joy—a sleek motorcycle he lovingly maintained and rode over the roads of Cache Valley. His passion for bikes was matched only by his love for his mechanics job. Every night he came home covered with grease and a grin, and every morning he couldn't wait to head back to the garage and see what new projects they had waiting for him.

Wesley loved the two family dogs, Pepper and Jack, and was devastated last year when Jack had to be put down.

Above all, Wesley cherished his family. He loved his older brother, Ben, and “usually” adored his two sisters, Abbi and Millie. When they weren't fighting, they loved driving into town together for food or going to hang out with friends. Their bond was unbreakable. Wesley’s warmth, quick wit, and infectious laugh filled their home with joy.

Wesley is survived by his parents, Kevin and Katie Smith; his brother, Ben Smith (Abby); his sisters, Abbi and Millie Smith; his grandparents, Jim and Trudy Sumsion, and Mike and Carol Smith.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 20 N 100 W, Mendon, Utah on May 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., preceded by a public viewing from 10-11:30 a.m.

Wesley’s light burned brightly, and though his time was brief, his impact was profound. His love for fixing things, riding free, and holding his family close will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and they look forward to the time they can hold him again.
