Wilford (Bill) Emerson Toone, 88, of Hyrum passed away February 28, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born July 8, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to Josephine Carlson Hall and Edison Grover Toone. He was the oldest of 3 boys.
He lived in Croyden, Hunstville, and Kanesville (now West Haven).
When he was 17 his father passed away after a hunting accident.
He married Marie Stimpson on May 27, 1955. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on May 25, 1956.
After they were married they lived in Ogden for a short time, then moved back to Kanesville.
They lived in Burley, Idaho for a short time where he worked on a dairy farm.
They returned to Utah and lived in Roy, Cedar City, and Hyrum.
He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College until it became necessary to have full time employment.
He had special training in Aerospace and worked as a quality control and engineering manager for Marquardt Aircraft, Montek, Flameco Engineering, and Cache Valley Machine.
He served in the National Guard and Army Reserves attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class as an Artillery Section Chief.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the young mens and in the bishopric. When he was a young man he played the piano for priesthood meeting. He spent a lot of time indexing and received special recognition for indexing over a million names.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, trap shooting, and four wheeling.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie, his parents, his brothers Steve and Richard, and his son Blake.
He is survived by his four sons: Craig (Marilyn), Scott (Vicky), Chris (Carol), and Kevin (Gwenda); his daughter-in-law Donna, 14 Grandchildren, 38 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Huge 'thank you' to all of the hospice workers who helped care for Bill and Marie.
Also, 'thank you' to Legacy House of Logan for making their stay and our visits so enjoyable. Your care, your smiles, and your friendship will not be forgotten.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Hyrum 10th Ward (125 N. 400 W. Hyrum) with a viewing held prior at 10:30 AM.
